Musings on greetings

What do you call your boss at work? Do you shake his hand when you see him? Do you shake a new acquaintance's hand?

When did the social revolution occur relaxing the formality of greetings? There must have been a time when suddenly the workforce stopped calling their boss sir?

Amusingly AA road patrols used to salute a car going past with an AA badge on their car. Not really related but amusing all the same.

On the odd occasion when my boss is actully around for me to interact with my greeting consists of a short, but adequate, "Morning!".

However, if he is clearly engrossed in a task by the time I get in, this pleasantry may even be passed up.

I have also found that giveing a PA a good winking is a good way to court favour and can act as a store for future predicaments.
